Day of the Dag

February 1, 2010

Things to still read:

  1. “What to Expect in the First Year”
  2. Does the newborn baby find the nipple by smell?
The Lancet, Volume 344, Issue 8928, Pages 989-990

Ok. So. Right! Stiffen the sinews.

Funny how there is no great literature about kids in their first year. Shakespeare, Dickens, de Cervantes, Montaigne nor Tolstoy ever tackled this foremost off all subjects. You would think that as an insight into a great writers mind, this aspect of their lives would have provided the best window.

On the book site Amazon, the few non-fiction books written by recognised authors on early parenthood all get fairly poor reviews. Not that I bothered to read any of them.

Yet it will be interesting to compare and contrast the baby guidebooks to reality. Can’t wait really.

Must go as there is a public transport bus waiting for our arrival to take us to the hospital.
